Medicine and the Mormons: An Introduction to the History of Latter-day Saint Health Care. (Bountiful, Utah: Horizon, 1981).

Mormons believe that all healing ultimately comes from God. They believe that the physician using good medicine is utilizing knowledge which God has revealed to man for his benefit. They also believe in charismatic, or faith, healing from God. They believe that by operation of the principles of faith God will heal, and they believe that healing occurs primarily through operation of natural laws, some of them not necessarily presently understood by man. When man does good, he sets himself in compliance with those laws and God thus blesses him. (p. 11)
